Here’s the deal:

We’re on the hunt for an enthusiastic, customer-focused, go-getter to join our Business Installation team. As an Installation Technician, you’ll be the face of ALLO. You’re not just showing them the benefits of an all fiber-optic internet, TV, and phone connection; you’re giving them their first view of the ALLO difference, highlighting our commitment to our customers and their experience. Collaboration, team work, and support are just a few words that come to mind when describing our Business Installation Team. Need some help? You got it. Did you come across a question? Your team is right there to assist. A trouble ticket you can’t solve? A fellow tech is on the way!

Knowledge and experience in telecommunications, networking, or engineering is essential. While a background in fiber optics is definitely a plus, we’re all about character. Responsibilities

Here’s what a typical day looks like:

  • Are you a morning person? Perfect! Our day kicks off at 8 AM sharp with a team meeting to discuss the tasks for the day. We’re pretty receptive to anyone who wants to bring coffee or donuts for the crew.
  • Swing by inventory, grab your equipment, and head out to your first appointment. Every job will be different, but could include any of the following: Internet, HPBX, OCIO, SIP/PRI, or ICB installations, trouble tickets, and service calls. Did we mention this is a pretty diverse department?
  • Arrive to the job site, meet our newest fiber fan, and explain the services we’ll be installing.
  • Run fiber lines, splice single fiber, or ribbon fiber if necessary.
  • Install distributed splitter if necessary.
  • Mount equipment – did we mention we’re both exceptional and hassle-free? We leave our job sites looking better than when we showed up.
  • Put those blazin’ fast internet speeds to the test.
  • If necessary, check analog phone lines for that crystal clear dial tone and call out capability.
  • Check that set-top boxes are working with or without TVs.
  • Verify all services with the customer and leave a “Welcome to ALLO” pamphlet. Does the customer need help setting up their Wi-Fi printer? We’re hassle-free, lend a hand!
  • Answer any customer questions or concerns. ALLO’s Honest approach sets us apart from the competitors – if you don’t know the answer, your team has your back and is just a phone call away.
  • Clean up your mess, take pictures, and close out the job with notes.
  • Crushed it! It’s only 3:00 PM and you’ve knocked out your tasks for the day? Give your team a ring and lend a hand where you can.
  • Other duties may include restocking your stylish ALLO van, checking with the lead technicians for extra projects, expanding your knowledge with online trainings, SBC/SIP trainings, or any other tasks.
  • Ability to accept periodic assignments that involve travel away from immediate home office area based on client needs, business needs and project scope.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Here’s what we expect you to prove at the interview:

EDUCATION:

  • Associates degree or 2-4 years’ equivalent work experience.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years Telecommunications experience.
  • 1+ years performing installations in a business environment.
  • A networking background (C+, A+, CWA) is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience testing and terminating Cat 5 and Cat 6 wiring.

 

Here’s what our ideal candidate brings to the team:

  • A general knowledge of Microsoft OS.
  • The ability to troubleshoot and work through problems in a logical manner.
  • You enjoy being part of a team and are willing to jump in to help your co-workers. If you prefer flying solo, this probably isn’t the GIG for you.
  • An understanding of email clients and how to configure them.
  • Wire fishing and pulling skills.
  • No fear of heights or tight spaces. See that attic up there? You might need to get in it.
  • You are technically curious and think outside of the box to get the job done.
  • A gym membership isn’t required, but you will be expected to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • A keen aptitude for interacting with customers.
  • The ability to identify windows versions, email clients, and internet browsers and run basic Windows and Apple commands.
  • You don’t need to have the skills of Bob Villa, but you should be handy with power tools.
  • A thorough working knowledge of telecommunications color code, SIP/PRI, and Hosted IP PBX communications.
  • A clean driving record to operate company vehicles – drivers with a lead foot need not apply.
  • Flexibility with daily tasks, including being able to handle multiple interruptions and adjustments to priorities throughout the day.
  • Punctual attendance and effective time management at the scheduled job sites. Habitual snooze button users need not apply.
  • A flexible schedule. Providing our customers with Exceptional service means occasionally being on call after-hours, including nights and weekends.
  • An understanding of the basics of network routing protocols.
  • Safe handling of all products and maintaining company issued equipment/tools.
  • The ability to maintain accurate paperwork (time sheets, change orders, delivery tickets).
  • Ability to travel outside of the home office area for extended periods of time based on project and business need.
